Note: This job is not for everyone. The key is flexibility. It takes time to build up a steady client base.
New team members:
- must be at least 21 years old
- must have reliable, insured transportation
- must have a cell phone with email/texting capabilities
- live in Arlington (preferred)
- possess good customer service skills
- communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- detail oriented; able to follow client’s instructions
- ability to problem solve in difficult or unusual situations
- capable of walking/handling dogs of all sizes and breeds
- willingness to clean up after pets (never pleasant but necessary)
- willingness to work in all types of weather (rain, hot or cold weather; ice/snow)
- must be available to work weekends
- must be available to work all major holidays, including 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve & Day, New Years Eve & Day
- Willing to submit to and pass a criminal background check
Services to be performed include but not limited to:
- feed and water pets per client’s instructions and at scheduled times
- administer medications including giving insulin injections
- providing exercise, play time and/or brushing pets
- cleaning up pet messes
- scooping litter boxes
- transporting pets to vet/groomers as needed
- watering plants; adding water to swimming pools
- alternating lights and blinds
- bringing in mail, papers, flyers and packages
- security check of houses
- handling pet emergencies if they should arise
- working with pets of various ages and medical conditions
- providing pet care for species other than dogs and cats
